Half hearted.

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. I haven’t had a whole lot of internet time this week, which is both good and bad. But mostly good.

turquoise espresso

I don’t collect things anymore, really. I used to be pretty hardcore about collecting things (dishes, comic books, etc), as are many members of my family, but I sort of lost interest after a while.
Then again, I now have three stovetop espresso makers. I bought them for their looks, even though I do use them. This is the third, which I bought at Anthropologie (I know, I know) because it was turquoise, not because I needed it. Such is the thing that collections are made of.
Besides, my hotel room had a stove in it. This makes much better coffee than the room’s so-called coffee maker.

retrofitting

I used to drive by this building (the old A.B. Hirshfeld Press headquarters) all the time when I lived in Denver, and I’ve always liked it. I heard that it had been turned into a hotel, and feared the worst. Anyway, said hotel is where I stayed this weekend, and I’m happy to report that the building was turned into a hotel without it being destroyed. Here is the building’s attractive outside facade, which faces Speer Boulevard. More details here and here.

cherry creek on the rampage

Rivers in Colorado (and, I’m assuming, in New Mexico, as well) have been running high lately. Here is Cherry Creek, the “river” (it’s usually not more than a few feet wide) that runs through Denver. There is a pedestrian walkway and various landscaping underneath this water. Luckily, it subsided the next day, so that I could take pictures of the creek in a more normal state.

room for everything

Here are some pictures from my trip to Denver. The rental car I took (a surprisingly nice Chevy Impala) had slots built in for everything important, as you can see. Coffee and music were important, since there was so much inclement weather on the drive over the mountains: I ran into rain, hail, and snow on my way to the city.
